SPLICING- & MEASUREMENT EQUIPMENT

Fiber optic splicers are used for the thermal connection of ber optic transmission links. For the most part, installation cables are spliced onto installation cables or installation cables onto pigtails in order to generate an extension or a data outlet. The splicing units are available in dierent versions, such as three-axis units or one-axis units.
In addition, EFB-Elektronik oers measuring instruments in a wide range of designs. The easiest way to test a ber optic transmission link is to measure the attenuation. Attenuation limits the range of the ber optic link and thus its performance, which is why attenuation is one of the most important parameters in ber optic technology. The attenuation results from the ratio of two power ratios. While only one optical receiver is required for the power measurement, both a transmitter and a receiver are required for the attenuation measurement. In addition, two persons are required for the attenuation measurement on installed ber optic cables. First a normalization and then the measurement itself is carried out. The power of the transmitter must remain constant between normalization and measurement. For this purpose, there are the dierent standards: IEC14763-3, DIN EN 50346 and DIN EN 61280.
