The LevelOne POI-3004 is a Gigabit Power over Ethernet (PoE) injector that not only provides a cost-effective power distribution solution, but also provides a seamless way to deploy Powered Devices (PDs) on top of existing LAN infrastructure. Using power injectors, DC power of up to 30W and the data coming from a non-PoE switch are combined and transmitted via Gigabit Ethernet cabling to a PD, such as a PoE access point. This allows you to expand the use of your existing hardware investments without having to purchase additional PoE switches. In addition, non-PoE devices such as RFID terminals can also be controlled remotely by adding additional PoE splitters as power and data are further split into two cables. These devices can therefore be installed in hard-to-reach areas such as entrances where there are no nearby sockets or electrical wires.
