The abbreviation IP stands for International Protection.
Industrial connectors are subdivided according to their suitability for different environmental conditions according to an IP coding, in the form of a two-digit number. The first digit represents the extent of protection of a connector against impacts or foreign objects and the second digit classifies protection against moisture.
