These are the advantages of copper components and network cables from EFB-Elektronik

High-quality copper cables transmit signals over long distances with less loss than other materials. Stable and fast data transmission is guaranteed.

The low electrical resistance of copper ensures high signal quality with minimal interference. Copper network cables deliver high performance, especially when transmitting large amounts of data and in environments with a lot of electromagnetic interference.

Copper networks are inexpensive to manufacture and install. For offices and home networks, copper connections offer an optimal price-performance ratio in many cases.

What is the maximum length of a network cable?
Maximum cable length for different categories: There are recommended maximum lengths for the most common copper network cables to ensure optimal performance.

- Short network cables (0.5 to 5 m) for connections between two devices on the same desk or in the immediate vicinity
- Medium network cables (5 to 20 m) for connections between devices in different rooms
- Long network cables (over 20 m) for connections across several floors
For very long connections (over 100 m) or environments with high data requirements, the use of fiber optic cables may be a better option.

- Great conductivity: high-quality copper cables transmit signals over long distances with less loss than other materials. Stable and fast data transmission is guaranteed.
- Reliable signal quality: The low electrical resistance of copper ensures high signal quality with minimal interference. Copper network cables deliver excellent performance, especially when transmitting large amounts of data and in environments with significant electromagnetic interference.
- Cost-effective: Copper networks are inexpensive to manufacture and install. For offices and home networks, copper connections offer the best price-performance ratio in many cases.
- Durable: Network cables and components made with copper are robust and resistant to external influences such as moisture and mechanical stress, resulting in a longer service life.
- Energy-efficient: The high conductivity of copper saves energy during data transmission.
Available network cables and types: Overview of our copper product range
These are the highlights of our large product range:
- Cat.5e network cable: Up to 2,5 gigabits per second (Gbits/s) data transmission, 100 MHz frequency and up to 100m in length.
- Cat.6 cable: Up to 5 Gbps, 250 MHz frequency, up to 100m.
- Cat.6A Kabel: Augmented data transmission – up to 10 Gbps, 500 MHz frequency, up to 100m in length
- Cat.8.1 cable: For high-speed networks – up to 40 Gbps, 2 GHz frequency, up to 30m in length
- UTP (Unshielded Twisted Pair): No additional protection. The twisted wire pairs offer a certain degree of protection against interference.
- STP (Shielded Twisted Pair): Each pair of wires has its own shielding, which provides additional protection against interference.
- FTP (Foiled Twisted Pair): Each pair of wires is surrounded by a foil.
- S/FTP (Shielded Foiled Twisted Pair): A combination of braided shielding around the entire cable and foil shielding around each pair of wires.
What is the maximum length of a copper network cable?
Maximum cable length for different categories: There are recommended maximum lengths for the most common copper network cables to ensure optimal performance:
- Cat.5e and Cat.6:These two categories support cable lengths of up to 100m per network segment. If this length is exceeded, the respective maximum transmission speed can no longer be achieved.
- Cat.6A: Up to 100m at a speed of 10 Gbit/s. This also applies to professional networks where higher speeds are required.
- Cat.7 and Cat.8: These cable types are suitable for high-speed applications. Cat.7 can also support up to 100m for 10 Gbits/s, while Cat.8 is only suitable for up to 30m for 40 Gbits/s.
- Short network cables (0.5 to 5m) for connections between two devices on the same desk or in the immediate vicinity
- Medium network cables (5 to 20m) for connections between devices in different rooms
- Long network cables (over 20m) for connections across several floors
Professional networks: In professional networks, cables of up to 100m in length are often utilised to connect workstations or servers. Cat.6A or higher categories are often used here to ensure high transmission rates even over longer distances.
For very long connections (over 100m) or environments with high data requirements, the use of fiber optic cables may be a better option.
